Lodge Spring Encampment

Brotherhood Ceremony
March 11-13, 2016
Mataguay Scout Ranch

Lodge Encampment is a weekend of service, fellowship, and fun at MSR. This is a chance to earn service hours, give back to our council, and meet new people in the OA.  Check-in begins at 5:30 pm on Friday. There will be a Brotherhood ceremony on Saturday, March 12, at 3 pm.

Candidates attending the Vigil Weekend should arrive on Saturday by 4 pm.

Summary

Through rain and muddy conditions, over 40 arrowmen came up to Mataguay Friday night, with more arriving in the morning.  Shortly after breakfast, scouts went to work on several projects around camp including painting tables, moving bunk beds, and building kiosks.  The rain from the day before had provided ideal conditions for tasks that would have been impossible otherwise, such as burning fallen tree limbs to prevent devastating forest fires in the future.  Most of the work was completed before lunchtime.

The afternoon was largely spent with games such as basketball, card games, and a match of giant Jenga that attracted a large audience.  There also took place an Elangomat training session and a short presentation of the new lodge website.  An excellent Brotherhood ceremony was put on by scouts of Naabaahii chapter, inducting several members.  Dinner was served, and the cook crew was praised for their work.  The following morning, a Scout's Own took place before departure.
